Breast cancer survivors may benefit from extra servings of broccoli, cabbage, and turnips, according to new research. After monitoring 4,886 breast cancer survivors, scientists from Vanderbilt University found that people who ate more cruciferous vegetables the first three years after diagnosis had a significantly higher survival rate. In addition to nutrients like fiber, vitamin C, and folic acid, cruciferous veggies are loaded with phytochemicals called glucosinolates that may inhibit certain cancers.
