Top tips for picky eaters

Picky eating can sometimes be a sign of food intolerances. When we took my son off dairy and gluten, he became more interested in trying new foods. (The naturopath we consulted told us this especially happens with dairy because dairy acts as an appetite suppressant to some people who are sensitive to it.) The next thing that helped my picky son experiment with more foods was being able to buy lunch at school and try what his friends were eating. Although the cafeteria lunches are not ideal, the fact that he eats spinach there every day and has tried and liked many new foods that he'd never try at home makes buying lunch there a no-brainer. It's been important for me to remember that kids like to be healthy, just like adults do, and giving them healthy options makes them feel empowered, and it also helps them learn that eating healthily is something to enjoy.
