7 ways to fit healthy choices into your hectic life
7. Connect.
It really does take a village. No matter whom your “tribe” is—gluten-free singles, parents of twins, soccer chauffeurs, paleo enthusiasts—there’s an online community that can give you emotional support, time-saving tips, workable healthy recipes, and exercise inspiration. "I can't tell you how many times I've turned to my Twitter followers or Facebook to ask what they know about a new product or resource," says Sarnoff. "Because the response is so immediate, it helps me explore my choices in real time."
And forge in-person contacts, too. Archambeault suggests a rotating-meal group: Find one or more friends or families who will make a simple meal to share at their house one night a week. “You start to realize that your life is not just within your four walls,” she says. “Rotated, shared meals build a comforting feeling of people working together, looking out for each other, actively caring for each other.” And in this busy world, isn’t that the essence of health? As Sarnoff says, "It can be so empowering to face things head on—especially together."
