Along with sleep, exercise is the first thing to go when schedules get crazy. But studies show that short activity bursts offer the same mental and physical benefits as one long workout. So make "downtime" work for you:
Pace while you’re on the phone.
When cooking, place hands on counter edge, take a big step backwards, and then push in and out for one minute.
Go up and down on your toes while standing in line.
Consider TV commercials your signal for stretches or jumping jacks.
When kids are at soccer practice, walk around the field; get other parents to join in and you’ll benefit from the social interaction, too.
