Try CoQ10 supplements for migraine relief
Coenzyme Q10, also known as CoQ10 is now being studied for its potential anti-inflammatory effects on migraine prevention and duration. It is showing promise as one of several supplements (others including magnesium and vitamin B2) that can help with this common neurological disorder.
Three to four times more frequent in women than in men, migraine can cause sometimes-debilitating symptoms, including light sensitivity and nausea. In one randomized controlled trial, a group of women with episodic migraine were given 400 mg of CoQ10 per day while others were given a placebo. After 12 weeks, the women taking CoQ10 reported reduced frequency, severity, and duration of migraine attacks.
CoQ10 is an antioxidant that supports cellular production and growth. Found in the membrane of every cell in your body, it begins to decline with age. Found in nuts, fish, eggs, wholegrains, and meat, COQ10 supplementation can be helpful for increasing naturally occurring levels in order to help with migraine prevention (check with a healthcare provider before beginning a new supplement).
Style a smile with dopamine dressing
Welcome to the world of dopamine dressing, where your outfit is a gateway to pleasure and a source of happiness throughout the day. Dopamine, a neurotransmitter and hormone made in your brain, is often referred to as the “feel-good” hormone. Dopamine dressing is all about selecting your outfit in a way that helps boost your mood.
The effect of clothing on frame of mind is well-known, with numerous studies finding that the way individuals experience fashion and identity ties into their emotions, mood, self-concept, and self-esteem. Other aspects of dopamine dressing, such as purchasing clothing that is considered slow fashion or that is sustainably minded has also been shown to increase feelings of well-being.

Grow a simple microgreen garden
With some microgreens containing four to 40 times the amount of nutrients than those found in the mature version of the same plant, it’s no wonder these tender and ultra-flavorful leaves continue to remain popular. Unfortunately, store-bought microgreens typically come with a high price tag (not to mention a high probability the fragile greens will go bad before they can all be used).
Enter the microgreen garden—a simple setup that’s ideal for even the smallest apartment spaces. Here’s all that’s needed:
- seeds
- water
- growing mat or soil
- containers or trays
- measuring cups (or a kitchen scale)
- a pitcher
- clean gardening scissors
To get started, seed the soil in the growing containers and keep in a well-lit area, watering periodically. Once the seeds have sprouted and grown into small leaves, they can be harvested, eaten, and enjoyed!
Check your dates!
Calling all fans of dried Medjool dates! Keep your stash mold-free by storing at room temperature for no longer than one month (regular dates can be stored up to three months) or in the freezer indefinitely.
Sometimes covered in a type of fibrous and fluffy white mold, dates can also be host to a black or green variety, so keep your eyes peeled. Medjool dates tend to be at a higher risk for mold growth because they naturally contain more water than generic dried dates.
Some super-sweet dates may develop harmless white spots on the outside, which is known as “sugar bloom.” Sugar bloom, although similar in appearance to white mold, gives the dates a pleasant crunch.
