Top tips for picky eaters

“Show your child all the wonderful food in the outer rims of the grocery stores Have him/her pick out one of his favorite fruit or vegetable, one fruit or vegetable that looks interesting to him, and one that he has never tried before.”
This question is asked by so many parents nowadays especially with the rise of "junk" food in our grocery stores . Luckily, my son wasn't much of a picky eater although now that he's a bit older, he might have developed certain "dislikes" (according to him :) ).
So, my advice is — and this is what I did whenever I went shopping with my son — show your child all the wonderful food in the outer rims of the grocery stores (i.e. produce, baked good, meat, etc.) first. Have him/her pick out one of his favorite fruit or vegetable, one fruit or vegetable that looks interesting to him, and one that he has never tried before. This way, you are engaging your child's opinions on what he likes to eat while teaching him the importance of choosing healthier food. Then of course when you get home, cook the food he selected or eat them raw or with some kind of dip if you choose. Your child will begin to understand that choosing healthier foods is like picking out his favorite toy. There are so many options out there, and it will help him expand his horizons and interests in eating healthier.
